What's New
May4Early Migration
Migration is definitely early in Rochester, New York this year. This past week yielded some large and special warbler numbers. There have been over 800 birds already been banded this season at the Kaiser-Manitou Beach Banding Station at Braddock Bay. The RIT Banding Station has also been having some good numbers. I haven't had a lot of time to go out and shoot but I have taken a few shots. Check out the Wildlife Gallery for some new images.
Some of the incredible migrant warblers moving through the area include: Yellow-throated, Orange-crowned, Blue-wing, Golden-wing, Cerulean, Hooded, Nashville, Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Yellow-rumped, both Yellow and Western Palm, Black-throated Green, Black-throated Blue, Black-and-white, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, and Common Yellowthroat.
Mar12Bonita Springs
I have just returned from my week long trip to Bonita Springs, Florida. The weather was beautiful and I couldn't have asked for a better birding and overall wildlife trip. Some of the highlights from the trip include: Bald Eagle, Glossy Ibis, Loggerhead Shrike, Tricolored Heron, Little Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egret, River Otter, American Alligator and Swallow Tailed Kite (my favorite of the trip). There are a lot of new photos in the Wildlife Gallery, so be sure to check them out!
Be sure to check out all the galleries and come back soon as I will be adding many more photos from the trip!

After months of not updating my site, I'm finally back! I've been extremely busy with my new web development business and haven't had any time to take photos or update my site. That is all about to change as Matt Bango Photography now becomes Matt Bango Art & Photography! I've recently decided to start doing fine art pencil drawings and digital paintings of some of my photographs that "don't turn out so well." These photos that I would normally delete are now very useful to me as they will be the inspiration for drawings and paintings.
Now that I am including art into my site it is time for a re-design and many new features. A new version of MattBangoPhotography.com will be coming in the next few weeks as I finally start to develop some of the ideas that I've been kicking around for it lately. Be sure to keep checking back in the mean time as I'll be adding photos regularly again. I'll also be rolling out my first drawings and paintings with the debut of the new MattBangoPhotography.com.

It's spring migration and that means passerines, and lots of them. What better place to see them than Point Pelee, Canada? Point Pelee is one of the 10 best spots in North America for bird migration. Not only is Point Pelee a premiere spot for birds, but other creatures use the flyway also. Butterflies, insects and birds all migrate through this point up north to the breeding grounds and back down for winter. My past weekend was spent in Point Pelee and although it wasn't great weather for migration, there were still some quality things to see.
You can check out some of the images from this past weekend in the Wildlife, Owls, Macro and Scapes galleries. There are also 3 new Wallpapers for you to check out and download.

There is a new Owl category at MattBango.com. Currently the category only consists of one species of owl, the Northern Saw-Whet Owl. The Saw-Whet Owl is a very small owl of all types of woodlands. Its size is a conservative 7-8 inches from head to tail. The main prey items of the Saw-Whet are mice, especially deer mice. Be sure to check back often as photos of other owl species, such as the Long-Eared and Great Horned owls, will be added. I also added a wallpaper of the Saw-Whet, which you can download from the downloads section.
